Apple has dropped a trailer featuring its first glimpse of Jason Sudeikis reviving his Ted Lasso sports couch character for the upcoming show of the same name on Apple TV+.

Sudeikis first played Lasso in an hilarious 2013 ad for the English Premier League soccer games on NBC Sports. With this Apple Original, he will be extending it to series length to portray a hapless, small-town college football couch hired by a soccer team from the UK.

Sudeikis famously appeared the character of Kurt Buckman in Horrible Bosses. He has also played presidential candidate Joe Biden on Saturday Night Live, and appeared in The Mandalorian.

Ted Lasso on Apple TV+

Apple commissioned Ted Lasso in October 2019. The series is co-created by Bill Lawrence, creators of Scrubs and co-creator of Cougar Town and Spin City.

The series will debut on Apple TV+ on August 14. It will join Mythic Quest, Central Park and Trying as Apple’s first steps into TV comedy.

A subscription to Apple TV+ costs $4.99 a month. If you’ve bought a new Mac, iPhone, Apple TV or iPad, you also get a free year of the service thrown in.
